Privacy Policy

Effective October 16, 2026

The Blonde Effect is a hair salon at 1611 Ellis St, Kelowna, BC. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers this website, booking with us, and your visits to the salon. Our online shop at shop.theblondeeffect.ca runs on Shopify and has its own privacy policy.

Who to contact

Rebecca Kantz, Owner, is responsible for how The Blonde Effect handles personal information. For any privacy question, request or complaint:

  • Email: info@theblondeeffect.ca
  • Phone: 778-767-3636
  • Mail or in person: The Blonde Effect, attention Rebecca Kantz, 1611 Ellis St, Kelowna, BC V1Y 2A8

What we collect

  • Contact form: your name, email address and message.
  • Booking and visits: your name, phone number, email, appointment history, the services you have had, colour formulas and service notes, and anything you tell us in a consultation, such as allergies or sensitivities that affect your service.
  • Payments: handled by our booking and payment provider. We do not see or keep your full card number.
  • Photos: we may photograph your hair to keep a record of your colour. We only post photos of you on our website or social media with your permission.
  • Website use: if you accept cookies, Google Analytics and Google Ads collect information such as the pages you visit, how you found us, your general location, and your device and browser. See "Cookies" below.

Why we use it

  • To answer your messages and book, confirm and remind you about appointments.
  • To give you safe, consistent results, for example by keeping your colour formula and any sensitivities on file.
  • To take payment and keep the records the law requires.
  • To follow up after your visit, for example with aftercare tips or to ask for a review. You can tell us to stop at any time.
  • To understand how people use our website and how well our ads work, only if you accept cookies.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your consent

When you contact us, book, or come in for a service, you agree to us using your information for the purposes above. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, unless the law requires us to keep something. If you withdraw it, we will tell you if that affects what we can do for you. For example, we may not be able to book appointments without a way to reach you.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run the salon, and only what they need:

  • Mangomint: online booking, client records, appointment reminders and payments.
  • Google: email (our contact form arrives by Gmail), Google Analytics and Google Ads (only if you accept cookies), Google Maps on our Visit Us page, and the fonts on this website.
  • Vercel: hosts this website.
  • Shopify: runs our online shop.
  • The tools our team uses to message clients and each other, such as our text-message provider.

Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, mostly in the United States. While it is there, it may be accessed by courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of that country. We also share information when the law requires it.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. When you first visit, we ask whether you accept cookies.

  • If you accept: Google Analytics and Google Ads set cookies so we can see how people find and use our site and measure our ads.
  • If you reject: those cookies are not set. Google may still receive basic information without cookies, such as that a page was viewed, to help measure ads in general.

We remember your choice in your browser. You can change it at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. The booking window from Mangomint also saves what it needs to book your appointment. You can learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

How long we keep it

We keep client records while you are a client and for a reasonable time after, so we can answer questions about past services and meet tax and legal requirements. If we use your information to make a decision about you, we keep it for at least one year after, as BC law requires. When we no longer need it, we delete or destroy it securely.

How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards for the sensitivity of the information, including password-protected accounts, limiting access to staff who need it, and choosing providers with strong security.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, how it has been used, and who it has been shared with. You can also ask us to correct it. Contact Rebecca using the details above. We will respond within 30 days.

Questions or complaints

Please contact Rebecca first and we will do our best to fix it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia at oipc.bc.ca or 250-387-5629.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
